Similar to the direct glue down method, this type of installation adds another step in the installation process. The double glue down method (or "double-stick7" as it is sometimes known) has grown in popularity over the last few years. This method provides the stability of the direct glue-down method with the comfort of an installation over a pad. Special cushions are required for this process as they must be constructed to be glued first to the sub-floor and then have adhesive applied to glue the carpet to the pad.

There is added cost in this type of installation, and it is currently being used in specialized installation areas rather than general open areas.
