It may be necessary to provide for future repair or removal of the carpet by using a chemical agent or a release adhesive, rather than a permanent adhesive. The correct adhesive must be applied properly. It should be spread uniformly over the sub-floor using a trowel with the right size notches. Proper size is very important since notches that are not large enough will spread too little adhesive, resulting in delamination. Care must be taken to follow the mill or adhesive manufacturer's guidelines for adequate adhesive coverage.
