Cut-Loop products are made on machines that have one set of needles making cut pile and another set producing loop pile. Sophisticated computers pre-set the pattern for a wide variety of styles and textures.
Another popular term used in commercial carpet today is tip sheared. This is similar to the cut and loop products in that there are both cut ends and loop ends on the surface of the product. They are manufactured as a multi-level loop product and then lightly "shaved" to create the cut ends.
