Wilton weaving uses perforated cards to control the pattern and feeding of the yarns onto the pile surface. Wiltons are normally limited to 5 colors and frames. Additional colors can be added through planting. In this process, yarns are woven one at a time and thus bury the previous yarns woven. This effect enhances the carpet's body and hand. Wiltons can be either loop pile or cut pile.
