Loop pile carpeting is manufactured on equipment which leaves the loop intact providing continuous threads of yarn on the surface. A tufted loop pile carpeting of an equivalent pile weight and with a similar backing system is often less costly than its cut pile or cut-uncut counterpart. Loop pile products can be either level loop, (all loops are the same height from row to row), or multi-level loop (different pile heights achieved using a pattern attachment).
