Carpet modules or tiles are another type of floorcovering product encompassed in the overall carpet "system." Carpet tiles are being used more and more in the commercial market. The designs and products available in carpet tiles have increased dramatically over the last few years. Carpet tiles are easy to install. They can be loose-laid or adhered for a wall-to-wall installation or set into a border creating the effect of an area rug. Carpet tiles also offer access to the subfloor when needed.

Additionally, in extremely heavy traffic areas, such as airports, worn or stained carpet tiles can be removed and new tiles installed with a minimum of time and labor. This is very important in areas that are open 24 hours a day and do not have "down" time for these types of repairs. Today, carpet tiles are available in the same style types, patterns and colorations as broadloom carpet. Many tile manufacturers coordinate their product lines and offer the same product in both broadloom and tile products to assist the designer.
